A medieval cube tent of 3,5 m x 3,5 m size. Similarly to our cotton Barn tent, it consists of fife parts:
- a roof
- and four side walls

All parts are detachable which makes this medieval tent easy in assembling and especially in transport. The use of frame base ensures the maximum use of inner space. The design of this model makes it universal as you can join it with other tents and create a spacious useful area (modularity). You can also detach all of the side walls and create a shed.

The design of the roof in this medieval tent is unique. Usually a cube is finished with a flat roof or a so-called gable roof. However, this one has a pointed pyramid roof. The peak is also finished with an orb with a beam.

Medieval cube tent is made from an impregnated cotton of 340g/m2 grammage.

The set consists of:
• five part tent sheet (roof + 4 walls)
• mast (fi 80 mm thick, 350 cm long)
• 8 circumferential poles (each of 205 cm length)
• wooden orb on mast
• wooden beam for a flag
• 35 tent pegs
• 4 ropes (each of 6 m length) with loops in the middle and at the ends
• 4 ropes (each of 3 m length) with loops at the ends

The popularity of cube tents in the Middle Ages

Tents in cubical shape can be found in iconography presenting medieval camps. Unusually there are several of them on the field and they are easily recognizable thanks to their design. We can assume they were used mostly as stocks for various goods: food, camp equipment, armaments.

The example of a medieval cube tent can be found in “Beschreibung der Reise von Konstanz nach Jerusalem” dated back to 1487.
