A type of medieval headwear. Gremlin open medieval hood has a liripipe and it was worn from the beginning of the 15th century, mostly in England and France. This headwear is made of wool with linen lining in the same color.

Just like other medieval open hoods, Gremlin is a typical garment for a lady. It stands out with its form as it uncovers the neck, which makes it a more convenient choice for warm days. This form makes it more airy and ethereal, and thus eye-catching. On windy days, you can pin it to a fillet.

What are the types of medieval headwear?

During all the period of the Middle Ages a hood was the most widespread head wear. Its functions were protective and sometimes symbolic, ritual or representative. Medieval headwear includes: caps, hats, coifs, hoods, kerchiefs and others. Hoods were often made of cloth, however caps and hats were made of felt.
