What makes a "Hannover" Pourpoint different than other arming clothing?

Like most of our gambesons, linen is the inner and outer layer. What makes it special, is the filling.
To make this arming doublet lighter and more mobile, we used a woolen felt as filling. There are two levels of thickness:
- thicker on chest (Y7b)
- thinner on the rest of pourpoint (Y7a)
More information about thickness you can find here.

Such pourpoint, together with proper armor, gives an amortization on good level. On this quilted doublet we have used a new cut-out of sleeve with so called „inverted elbow”. That’s why our aketon doesn’t go up and doesn’t hinder the movement during usage. Mobility and low weight make "Hannover" pourpoint perfectly work as a gambeson in historical reenactment and knight fighting.

Woolen filling and its role in this pourpoint

Woolen filling in a pourpoint has a lot of advantages. It makes an arming clothing very light, closer to historical gambesons. Wool has a lot of important features. It can absorb a lot of water and remain relatively dry, but it’s also a perfect isolator.
Almost all of used fabrics and fillings are natural, safe for environment, and biodegradable.
