Simple coat modeled on finds dated on X, XI and XII century. It has a shape of a rectangle in size about 150x110 cm. It is made of wool, without lining. It has no fastening, it can be fastened with a brooch (not included).
It is very efficient in protecting from wind and cold. This coat can also be used to cover yourself overnight. Due to a simple cut it can be fastened in many ways. Fastening on the shoulder allows to easily move your hand in daily works or during a fight.
Early Medieval Scandinavian coats were precisely described in “Viking Clothing” by Thor Ewing, which quote on many sources from Nordic sagas and stories of X-century traveller Ibn Fadlan. Ewing mentions various kinds of coats mutually different in size and shape, but coats made of a rectangle (Feldr) are mentioned the most. Due to the time elapsed since the days of the vikings, very few sources remained until today. A majority of clothes for reconstruction, apart from a few cases, is a speculation of archaeologist about the look of early-medieval costumes.
