Woolen purpoint Sir Robert is an innovative gambeson created for HMB and knight fighting. Our medieval gambeson is dedicated for civil reenactors and sword fighting enthusiasts. This aketon will be a perfect choice for HMB tournaments competitors and medieval camping fans.
This purpoint is made of high quality materials. Outer layer is woolen while the lining is made of linen. It has vertical stitchings on the torso and the upper section of the sleeves. Forearms are decorated with horizontal stitchings.
This woolen purpoint has a low collar and is closed with 4 leather laces. This solution provides a simple and fast fastening which will be appreciated by HMB and knight fighting enthusiasts.
What makes this woolen purpoint special are low weight and high level of mobility, essential in HMB tournaments and knight fighting. Low weight is achieved thanks to the use of woolen felt filling. There is one layer of filling in the whole product (Y7a) and plus one extra layer in the chest area (Y7b). This design, together with a properly picked armor, provides proper protection during a knight fight and HMB tournaments. You will find more information on the levels of thickness here
This type of medieval woolen purpoint is also characterized by a high level of mobility. It is provided mainly by a new sleeve pattern - so called “inverted elbow”. That’s why the aketon doesn’t move up and doesn’t hinder the movement. Knight fighting enthusiasts and HMB tournaments participants will surely appreciate this feature.
Still, there are more interesting qualities for HMB and knight fighters. The gambeson has spots for mounting armor. There are small holes on sleeves: on elbows, arms, and shoulders. They will surely ease the process of mounting plates. NOTE - strings from the pictures are sold separately. You can order them here.
This purpoint is based on historical sources which makes it also possible to be worn as civilian historical clothing, not only HMB and knight fighting gear.
