A type of an oval kerchief. Our medieval veil is made of thin linen. This type of kerchief was worn by medieval ladies. A veil, or similar headwear, in the past was the fundamental symbol of the married woman.

    Source for our veil

Oval headkerchiefs are presented on women wearing diadems or other headgear. It falls loosely on the back and slightly covers the sides of the face, like in Les Tres Riches Heures de Metz from 1300 - 1310 r. or Codex Manesse from 1305 - 1340 r.

How to wear a medieval veil?

In the attached pictures you can see how our medieval veil is attached to a linen band in the form of a fillet. To attach a medieval veil to a fillet you can use silver pins available in our webshop.
