Medieval coverings for legs
In the medieval period, covering for legs had a form of separate hose or joined hose which became popular as late as in 15th century. This part of medieval clothing was fitted to body shape and covered at least lower part of the legs.
On the other hand, women wore short medieval hose with leather garters under knees. Separate hose and pants, as covering for men’s legs, could have full feet or only stirrups (this form was popuar among less wealthy social classes). Hose were tied up to doublet.
